Personal Injury

Don Burns has more than 32 years of experience working in personal injury, with experience in Missouri and Kansas since 1991 and in Arizona since 1993. In fact, he was litigating pro se in federal district courts in Missouri from the late 1980s. Prior to his graduation from law school in 2009, Mr. Burns was a paralegal for over thirteen years at a large personal injury law firm in Arizona, Phillips & Lyon. In law school, he was awarded Order of the Barristers in Moot Court Competition and was an inaugural student justice on the Honor Court. He currently assists the personal injury practice of two law firms and has helped to settle many injury cases from all over the U.S.

Mr. Burns is also an accomplished photographer, his photos having won several awards. He has been published in several relocation and tourism guides in Arizona, and his photos have been exhibited in galleries in Phoenix since 2003. He currently sits on the Board of a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and assists other LGBTQ organizations on an ad hoc basis.

Note Mr. Burns was granted Legal Paraprofessional (LP) licensure in July 2023, after passing the LP exams in late 2021. He resides in Tempe with his partner of 14 years and two dogs. While he is an associate member of the State Bar of Arizona, his current role is that of a senior paralegal/investigator, and at present, he only assists clients under the supervision of a licensed attorney. Mr. Burns is not a licensed attorney, but he is a licensed LP. This allows him to litigate cases in justice courts all over Arizona. His primary focus is to help Mr. Leon with any litigation matters in Arizona that his LP license permits him to handle.
