Trucking Accidents

It is reported that one person is injured or killed in a truck accident every 16 minutes across the country. Every year hundreds of people are injured or killed in commercial vehicle accidents across Arizona. Accidents involving 18-wheelers, semi-trucks, tractor-trailers, delivery trucks, and other large vehicles have a high potential for causing injury, including catastrophic injuries and wrongful death. When the negligence of truck drivers or trucking companies cause these accidents, they may be held liable for compensating victims for their damages. This is where Leon Law, PLLC can help.

In the aftermath of an accident, things can get complicated. For this reason, it is critical that you reach out to an experienced injury lawyer as soon as you have been injured. If you or someone close to you has been involved in a trucking accident in Arizona, Leon Law, PLLC can offer the knowledge and experience necessary to maximize your compensation and set you on the path to recovery.

As with any accident, it can be difficult to establish exactly who’s responsible when you’ve been involved in an accident with a commercial truck. In many cases, truck accident victims face one or more of the following parties following a crash:

  • Maintenance contractors—faulty equipment, service lapses, unsatisfactory repairs
  • Truck drivers—careless, impaired, or negligent behavior
  • Trucking companies—lack of training, supervision, or safety standards for drivers

According to statistics from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration:

  • Of the approximately 415,000 police-reported crashes involving large trucks in 2015, there were 3,598 (1 percent) fatal crashes and 83,000 (20 percent) injury crashes.
  • Thirty-five percent of all fatal crashes, 21 percent of all injury crashes, and 19 percent of all property damage only crashes involving large trucks occurred at night (6:00 pm to 6:00 am).
  • In 2015, 27 percent of work zone fatal crashes and 11 percent of work zone injury crashes involved at least one large truck.
  • There were 11.2 fatal large truck crashes per million people in the United States in 2015, a 6-percent increase from 2010.
